Hilda T. Ebert, 92, Ferdinand

Hilda EbertHilda T. Ebert, 92, of Ferdinand died Sunday (May 17) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. She was born April 16, 1923, in Adeyville to Joseph and Catherine (Jacob) Schaefer. She married Othmar J. Ebert May 22, 1945, in St. Meinrad. He died August 19, 2014.

Hilda was a homemaker and helped her husband work on the family farm. She was a member of the St. Meinrad American Legion Auxiliary, St. Ferdinand Church Parish and the Daughters of Isabella. She was also a member of Ferdinand Senior Citizens, an avid reader, and  enjoyed making quilts and playing cards.

She  is survived by one son, Sylvan Ebert and wife Linda, Greenwood; four daughters, Norma Murray and husband Jim , Kokomo, Diane Balbach and husband David , Dale, Sandy Meyer and husband Steve, Lexington, Kentucky, and Terri Carson and husband Jeff, Carmel; son-in-law, Gene Braunecker, Huntingburg; twelve grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in deathby one daughter, Marlene Braunecker, and five brothers, Raymond, Robert, Hilbert, Richard and Othmar Schaefer.

Services at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Ferdinand Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 7-9:30 a.m. Thursday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Online condolences may be shared at www.becherfuneralhome.com.
