Vonderheide Now GOP Candidate For Jasper Council At-Large Seat

Dean Vonderheide - Jasper - 2015JASPER (Local Sources) – Dean Vonderheide has been selected by the Republican Party to be a candidate for an At Large seat on the Jasper City Council filling a ballot vacancy from the recent Primary Election.

He joins Nancy Eckerle, John Bell, and Kevin Manley on the Republican ticket for Jasper City Council.

Dean Vonderheide, 61, and his wife Ellen, live on West 33rd Street in Jasper. They have two daughters, Meghan Premuda and Anna Vonderheide.

Vonderheide graduated from Jasper High School in 1971 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Indiana University in 1976. He competed in intercollegiate athletics and earned his letter in varsity football while at Indiana.

Vonderheide began his working life as a Teacher and Coach at North Posey High School and then taught and coached at Tell City High School. He left teaching to enter the furniture industry with Styline/Ferdinand Furniture in Huntingburg. Following three years at Styline/Ferdinand Furniture, he joined Kimball International where he worked for 32 years until his retirement earlier this year. At Kimball he developed leadership skills and promoted the
development of the organization through education and training. He earned certification as a Global Professional of Human Resources from the Society of Human Resource Management in 2007. He advanced his career as a leader in the organization, retiring as Chief Human Resource Officer. He recently started an agricultural-based company, White River Hops, LLC.

Vonderheide is a member of Trinity United Church of Christ where he has served three terms on the Church Council, one term as Council President, and currently is on the Property Committee. He serves on both the Dubois County Contractual Library Board and the Jasper Public Library Board. He is a past Secretary and current President of the Jasper Library Board.

He is a Life Member of the Indiana University Alumni Association and a member of the Southwest Indiana Chapter. He has served on the Board of Directors and as President of the Indiana University “I” Association and is currently on its Advisory Committee. He is a past member of the Indiana University Athletic Director’s Committee and the Indiana University Varsity Club Board of Directors. He is a past member of the Vincennes University-Jasper Campus Community Advisory Committee and is a current member of the Jasper Rifle and Gun Club.

Dean Vonderheide received the “I” Association Presidents Award in 2002 and the Z.G. Clevenger Award from Indiana University in 2003. In 2004, he received the IU Alumni Club of Southwest Indiana Distinguished Alumni Service Award.
