Indiana Hit With More Criticism Over New Law

EVANSVILLE (WTVW/WEHT) – The CEOs of nine major Indiana-based companies sent a letter to Governor Pence and the House and Senate leaders sharing their concerns for the Religious Freedom Restoration Act’s impact on their employees and the state’s reputation.
This includes companies like Eli Lilly, Anthem, and Angie’s List.

In it, they call for immediate action to be taken that ensures the law doesn’t encourage discrimination.

Several businesses and organizations have already cancelled future events in Indiana.

Even Connecticut Governor Dannel Malloy says he’ll sign an executive order to halt state-sponsored travel to the Hoosier state.

“No state should use religious grounds to be the basis for discrimination. It hearkens back to a time where states treated citizens differently. That system should be in the history book and not be reborn in this country state-by-state,” said Malloy.

Malloy also targeted the upcoming NCAA championship being held in Indianapolis.

He says he hopes the NCAA can reschedule saying gay athletes should not be forced to visit a state where they know they’ll likely be discriminated against.
