Lady Cats Open 2015 Softball Season With Win At Jeffersonville

scoreboardJEFFERSONVILLE (Local Sources) – Jasper opens the 2015 season with a 5-4 win at Jeffersonville Saturday in high school softball.

Jasper struck first with a run in the top of the first.  Jeffersonville tied it in the bottom of the 2nd then took the lead with 1 in the bottom of the third. Jasper took the lead back with 2 in the top of the 4th then added 2 more in the top of the 5th. Jeff scored 2 in the bottom of the 5th on a Wildcat error to make it 5-4, but that would be the end of the scoring for both teams for the final score of 5-4 Jasper.

Olivia Knies got it done in the circle for Jasper for the complete game victory. Knies allowed four runs over seven innings, struck out six, walked 10 and gave up seven hits.

Emily Gray took the loss for Jeffersonville. Gray lasted just 5 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out four, and allowed five runs on five hits.

Olivia Burger, Allison Reckelhoff, Paige Werner, Erin Terwiske & Olivia Knies each had a hit for Jasper.

Jasper also picked up a win in the JV game, downing Jeffersonville 5-2. Anna Edwards picked up the victory pitching the first 3 innings for Jasper with Faith Barnett pitching the 4th & 5th innings to get the save.
