Another Felony OWI Arrest With Children In Vehicle

JASPER (NNDC) – A Jasper woman was arrested Thursday for drunk driving resulting in two young children in the car with her being taken into the custody of Indiana Child Protective Services.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says 26-year old Lorryn Luttrell was under the influence of alcohol when her car slid off the road near the intersection of Beth Lane and Ann Lane at about 5:15pm. That intersection is just west of Portersville Road on Jasper’s far northwest side.

Deputies on the scene quickly determined Luttrell under the influence of alcohol. Deputies conducted field sobriety testing and found probable cause to request that Luttrell submit to a chemical test at Memorial Hospital in Jasper. The test determined that Luttrell’s blood alcohol content was .18%.

DCSD says a 2-year-old boy and a3-year-old girl were passengers in Luttrell’s. Their relationship was not released by DCSD.

ICPS took custody of the children upon Luttrell’s arrest.

This was the second drunk driving arrest of a Jasper woman who had a child or children in the car at the time.

32-year old Rebecca Long was arrested Wednesday afternoon after her car got stuck in a ditch along U. S. 231 just south of the Dubois County Regional Airport.

Long was not hurt and neither was her three-year old son.

Deputies at the scene say Long appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and possibly other unknown substances.

DCSD says Long failed field sobriety tests at the scene. She was taken to Memorial Hospital in Jasper where her blood alcohol level tested .24% (three times over the legal limit to drive in Indiana).
