Russel “Eldo” Reinhart, 91, Holland

Russel ReinhartRussel “Eldo” Reinhart, 91, of Holland, passed away Friday ( March 20) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. He was born in Dale July 17, 1923, Elmer and Della (Medcalf) Reinhart. He married Patricia E. Frick August 2, 1943, in Evansville.

Eldo worked at Frick’s Hardware Store in Huntingburg as store manager until his retirement. He served on the Huntingburg City Council, as assistant fire chief of the Huntingburg Volunteer Fire Department, and as Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association district 18 chairman. He was recently honored by the I.V.F.A. with a life membership gold card and a 50 year pin. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post No, 2366, and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan.

He is survived by two sons, Bruce Reinhart and wife Rachel, Jasper, and Jeff Reinhart and wife Karen, Holland; two daughters, Sherry Perkins and husband Doug, Ft. Pierce, Florida, and Sheila Fischer and husband Daniel, Indianapolis; four brothers, Paul Reinhart, Oho, Bob Reinhart, Atlanta, Georgia, Amon Reinhart, Joliet, and Ray Reinhart, Phoenix, Arizona; three sisters, Doris Counts, Warren, Michigan, Fern Rice, Newburgh, and Norma Sanzoni, Clinton, Michigan; 12 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Patricia E. Reinhart, who passed away September 13, 2014, one daughter, Sonia Reinhart, one son, Kent Reinhart, three sisters, Ruthie Spurlock, Faye Hufnagel, and Donna Heady two brothers, Earl and Ronnie Reinhart, one grandson, Adam Fischer, and one great-grandson, Erin Reinhart.

Services at 10 a.m. (EDT) Tuesday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial following in Fairmount Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. memorial detail. Pastor Mark West will officiate at the funeral. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m., conducted by the Indiana Volunteer Firefighter’s Association and the Huntingburg Volunteer Fire Department.
