John A. Hopster, 56, Jasper

John HopsterJohn A. Hopster, 56, of Jasper, died Thursday (March 19) at Select Specialty Hospital in Evansville. He was born in Jasper January 31, 1959, to Anthony and Maxine (Kreilein) Hopster. He married Karen Lubbehusen September 13, 1981, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand.

John worked for the Jasper street department for 23 years. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish in Jasper, Jasper Outdoor Recreation, and the Jasper Band Booster Club. He was a third degree knight in the Jasper Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed NASCAR and was a Jeff Gordon fan. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, going to dinner, playing cards, hunting, fishing, going to dinner, and playing cards. He was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

He is survived by his wife, Karen Hopster; two daughters, Keli Hopster, Evansville, and Courtney Perkins and husband Dustin, Jasper; three grandchildren, Connor, Dominick, and Lexi; one sister, Susan Wheatley, Jasper; two brothers, Mark Hopster and wife Cheryl, and Steve Hopster, all of Jasper; and his dog, Coco.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Sara Hedinger.

Services at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church with burial following in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
