Kenneth J. Tretter, 84, Huntingburg

TretterKenneth J. Tretter, 84, of Huntingburg, died Saturday (March 14) at Brookside Village in Jasper. He was born in St. Meinrad August 20, 1930, to Hubert and Ella (Ruxer) Tretter. He married Doris Olinger on December 5, 1953, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg.

Kenneth owned and operated the Tretter Motor Company. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Y.M.I. Club, the Knights of Columbus, and V.F.W. Post #2366. He served in the United States Air Force as a staff sergeant during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed fishing, being with his animals, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Tretter; four daughters, Ann Boeglin and husband Denny, Theresa Jahn and husband Mark, and Heather Tretter, all of Huntingburg, and Susan “Goose” Zimmerman and husband Jeff, Phoenix, Arizona; one son, John Tretter, Huntingburg; one brother, Paul Tretter, Morning View, Kentucky; and six grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Archie Tretter, and one sister, Eunice Rohleder.

Services at 10 a.m. (EDT) Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church with burial following in the church Cemetery. Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Graveside rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. Post No. 2366 memorial detail. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home. A rosary prayer service followed by a Y.M.I. memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Church, the Alzheimer’s Association, the Dubois County Humane Society, or to a favorite charity.
