Investigation Continues Of Crash That Killed Ireland College Student

Alyssa WagnerMANNINGTON, KY (NNDC) – The investigation into a Sunday morning accident that claimed the life of an Ireland college student is continuing.

22-year old Alyssa Wagner was killed in the single-vehicle wreck at the 30 mile-marker of the Pennyrile Parkway in Mannington.

A spokesman with Kentucky State Police tells NewsNow Dubois County they are still trying to determine the exact cause of the accident, however, it appears that alcohol was not a factor.

Alyssa was a senior majoring in nursing at the University of Southern Indiana in Evansville and was scheduled to graduate in May.

Five passengers were in the vehicle with Wagner who was driving. They were on a spring break trip.

Three of them, 22-year old Lauren Cessen of Ogden, Illinois, 23-year old Kristen Hostetter of Bloomfield, and 23-year old Jennah Banks of Rockport, were taken to Baptist Health Hospital in Madisonville for treatment.

Two other passengers were lifeflighted from the scene. 24-year old Jarod Daming of Newburgh was flown to St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville and 23-year old Malcolm Webb of Rockport was taken to Deaconess Hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Funeral services for Miss Wagner will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
