Several Accidents Reported Over Weekend; Including One That Held Up Southridge Team Bus (VIDEO)

JASPER (NNDC) – A French Lick man now faces two felony charges following a single-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon. Jasper police charged 42-year old Michael Lagenour after he drove a pickup truck while intoxicated through a private yard shortly after 3pm.

JPD says Lagenour was southbound in the 300 block of Meridian Road when his truck ran off the roadway and through the yard of Jason and Jill Kelly, before striking the Kelly’s mailbox and then a City of Jasper light pole.

Police say a passenger in the truck, 81-year old Eddie Flick, also of French Lick, complained of pain to his neck, back, arm and leg. He was transported by ambulance to Memorial Hospital.

Meanshile, JPD officers says they detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on Lagenour but he refused to submit to a field sobriety test. He was taken to Memorial Hospital for a blood or urine draw to determine his blood alcohol content but he also refused to cooperate.

Police did charge Lagenour with a Level 5 felony count of operating while intoxicated causing serious bodily injury and a Level 6 felony count of obstruction of justice.

No One Injured In Two-Vehicle Accident That Holds Up Team Bus For A Short Time (VIDEO)

Jasper — No one was injured in a two-vehicle accident late Saturday afternoon on Jasper’s westside.

Jasper police say 48-year old Jayme Erny was westbound on Indiana 56 in his work truck when he disregarded a red light at the intersection with St. Charles Street and collided with an SUV. The driver of the SUV, 57-year old Renee Sandage of Jasper.

Neither driver was injured in the accident that happened at about 5:15 Saturday afternoon.

After the impact, Erny’s truck continued on up into a nearby yard before it stopped. Sandage’s SUV had to be towed from the scene.

Erny was cited for disregarding an automatic signal.

The cleanup did hold up two passenger busses, one of which was the Southridge boys basketball team bus… the other was carrying a wedding party. The Southridge team bus was on its way to Washington for the 3A Boys Sectional tournament. The bus made it to Washington in plenty of time for the game.

Fight Leads To Jasper Man’s Arrest

JASPER (NNDC) – A Jasper man was arrested Friday night after local police responded to a fight in progress in the 1300 block of Main Street.

JPD says the fight had ended when officers arrived, but 46-year old Daniel Drew, who witnesses say was involved in the fight, was found walking nearby.

When asked by police, Drew refused to tell them who he had been fighting. Police say Drew was highly intoxicated. JPD says Drew had injuries to his face.

Drew was charged with disorderly conduct and public intoxication (.15% B.A.C.)

Jasper Woman Cited For Leaving Scene Of Accident

Jasper — A Jasper woman was cited by local police after they say her car struck two parked cars and then left the scene Friday afternoon.

Police say 31-year old Ana Elsy Romero Bolanos was eastbound on 47th Street when she turned her car south onto Rhine Strasse. Police say Bolanos turned too quickly caused her car to go left of center and strike the front end of a parked SUV which was then shoved into a car.

The SUV belongs to 29-year old Jessica Jackson and the car to 48-year old Dennis Steinhart, both of Jasper.

JPD says Bolanos then left the scene and continued south on Rhine Strasse. Police say they located her vehicle at her home in the 4400 block of Rhine Strasse. Police say Bolanos admitted the car involved belonged to her.

She was cited for leaving the scene of the accident, speed to fast to avoid a collision and for not having a valid driver’s license.

Slick Road Factor In Friday Afternoon Accident

Jasper — A Huntingburg teen escaped injury but his pickup truck was totaled in a single-vehicle accident Friday afternoon. Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says 19-year old Zachary of Huntingburg lost control of the truck on a slush-covered Kellerville Road Friday afternoon.

DCSD says the truck slid off the east side of the road and collided with some trees.

A passenger, Taylor N. Lahr, complained of head pain but refused treatment at the scene.
