Child Custody Dispute Ends With Huntingburg Man In Jail

HUNTINGBURG (NNDC) – An early morning dispute over the custody of a child has landed a local man in jail.

Huntingburg police say 40-year old Sergio Quiroz was taken into custody after he allegedly was involved with a fight with another man.  HPD says the fight started over HPD says was a “child custody issue.”

A physical fight between Quiroz and 41-year old Maximino Vaquero was over when HPD officers arrived shortly before 8 this morning at Quiroz’s home in the 300 block of East First Avenue.

HPD says Quiroz struck Vaquero several times in the face Vaquero and another man, 45-year old Carlos Frias were sitting in Frias’ vehicle.  Police say Quiroz also broke the vehicle’s front passenger mirror during the incident.

Quirzo is charged with Battery and Criminal Mischief.  Dubois County deputies also responded to the scene this morning.
