Incarcerated Crawford County Man Charged With Celestine Burglary

fromanCELESTINE (NNDC) – An inmate at the Crawford County Jail has now been charged in connection with a theft and burglary at a mobile home near Celestine.

Sgt. Tom Kleinhelter with the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says 27-year old Cody Froman of Eckerty is charged with a Level 4 felony count of residential burglary along with Level 6 felonies off auto theft, attempted auto theft and theft from a property east of Celestine near the Patoka Lake Marina.

The property is owned by Bernie Fallon of Jasper. Fallon says he usually parks an SUV to block the road that leads back to his property, but on February 3rd, a DCSD deputy noticed the SUV had been moved off to the side of the road. Fallon says the property is used a summer retreat and during hunting season.

DCSD says food from a freezer inside the modular home had been prepared and soft drinks and alcohol were also consumed. Fallon says propane tanks and clothing items were also taken. A 31′ RV was also taken from the property. ¬†Fallon say the items were taken sometime in late January or early February.

The RV was eventually located on property owned by Froman outside Eckerty. The propane tanks and clothes that were taken have not been recovered.

Meanwhile, Kleinhelter says the attempted auto theft charge against Froman is the result of DCSD’s investigation that¬†shows the ignition switch to the SUV was broken in a failed attempt to steal it.

Froman was transferred to the Dubois County Security Center in Jasper from the Crawford County Jail in English late yesterday morning where he was serving time for another crime. He made his initial appearance in Dubois Circuit Court this morning. He’s being held on a $10,000 cash-only bond.
