3A Sectional Postponed Another Day; Huntingburg Asking For Help In Clearing Snow For 2A Tournament

HUNTINGBURG (NNDC) – The first of the local boys basketball sectionals has been moved back at least a day as a result of this week’s major snow storm.

Brett Bardwell, the athletic director at Southridge High School, says the Raiders first-round 3A Sectional game with Pike Central originally scheduled for last night, has now been rescheduled for tomorrow night (Friday) at 6pm.

This means the semifinal games that were originally scheduled for tomorrow night will now be played Saturday night with the 3A Sectional championship game to be played Monday.

The 3A Sectional is being played this year at the Hatchet House in Washington.

Southridge and Pike Central will now tip it off at 6pm Friday in one of two first-round games to be played Friday. The host Hatchets and Heritage Hills will play at 7:30pm.

The two semifinal games will feature defending sectional champ Jasper and this season’s Big 8 Conference champ Vincennes Lincoln playing at 6pm followed by the two winners from Friday night.

The 3A sectional championship game is now Monday at 7pm.

Meanwhile, the local 2A sectional being played at Huntingburg’s Memorial Gym (hosted by Forest Park High School) has not yet been affected by the weather.

Tomorrow night’s semifinal games (North Posey vs. Evansville Mater Dei and South Spencer vs. Forest Park) will be played at 6:30pm and 8pm.
