Jasper Will Host Young Women LEAD Conference.

JASPER (NNDC) – Jasper will host the third annual Young Women LEAD Conference Wednesday, March 11, at the Vincennes University Jasper Campus and the Jasper Arts Center. SOAR, a leadership program for emerging high-potential business women, is the presenting sponsor.

The Young Women Lead Conference is for high school girls focusing on Leadership, Education, and Development. It will feature workshops and speakers. Online registration will open at 8 a.m. February 2. Registration will be limited to the first 365 students who register. If registration does not hit capacity it will close February 25. Registration is required for both students and attending chaperones. Registration is free. Lunch will be offered until the conference ends at 2 p.m.

Liz Forkin Bohannon, founder of Sseko Designs, an ethical fashion brand based in Uganda, will be the keynote speaker. Sseko Designs is a non-just-for profit company that provides employment and entrepreneurial training to women in East Africa. Indiana Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann will also speak at the conference and will participate in the workshop sessions, focusing on the leadership development and education choices for women.

Emily Hickerson of Kimball International says, β€œThe purpose of the conference is to empower high school girls to embrace their strengths and to reach their full potential.”
