George W. “Buddy” Emmons, 87, Cuzco

George EmmonsGeorge W. “Buddy” Emmons, 87, of Cuzco, died Friday (January 23) at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. He was born in Martin County January 4, 1928, to Emil and Clara (Lewis) Emmons. He married Mary Ruth Beatty June 20, 1948, at Cuzco Methodist Church.

Buddy retired from National Gypsum in Shoals. He enjoyed raising beef calves, hunting, and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth Emmons; one daughter, Peggy Burton and husband Gordon, Cuzco; three sons, Garry Emmons and wife Pat and Timothy Emmons and wife Missy, all of Cuzco, and Danny Emmons and wife Janie, Corydon; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; one sister, Wanda Buffington and husband Terry, Mitchell; and three brothers, Emil Jr. Emmons, Milford, and Estel “Hump” Emmons and wife Thelma and Bill Emmons and wife Ruth Ann, all of Hillham.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Jessie B., Clint, and Shain Emmons, and one sister, Audra Anderson.

Services at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper with burial to follow at a later date. Pastor Mike Stout will officiate.
