HUNTINGBURG (NNDC) – An insurance fraud investigation dating back to the summer of 2012 had led to the arrest of a Huntingburg woman.

Huntingburg Police say 42-year old Berenice Barrientos-Galeana is charged with a Class 6 felony count of Synthetic Identity Deception.

HPD says Galeana was working at a local furniture factory under a fraudulent name (Sarah Ann Hernandez) and date of birth. Police say she was also using a fake Indiana drivers license.

Police say the company’s insurance carrier was notified by Jasper’s Memorial Hospital about Galeana and her alleged use of fraudulent identification.

Galeana was taken into custody Tuesday night after questioning by HPD and Dubois County Sheriff’s Office investigators. She is being held on bond in the Dubois County Security Center on the Synthetic Identity Deception charge.
