Huntingburg Woman Tries To Flee Scene Of Property Damage Accident; DVFD Makes Fire Run Near Crystal (with VIDEO)

HUNTINGBURG (NNDC) – A Huntingburg woman now faces several charges after police say her SUV struck two trees along Washington Street and then attempted to flee the scene.

Huntingburg police were called to the 600 block of north Washington Street shortly after 8pm Monday.  There they found 44-year old Joan Noble in her SUV that had damage to the front end of the vehicle.

HPD officers say they detected an odor of alcohol on Noble while she was in the vehicle.  HPD says Noble was asked several times to step out of the vehicle but she refused.

Police were eventually able to get her out of the SUV and detain her for further investigation.

It was learned that Noble was driving her SUV with a suspended license and she had a previous conviction for the same offense.

Noble was taken to Memorial Hospital in Jasper where police say she submitted to a chemical test.  Police say her blood alcohol level was .24%; three times the legal limit in Indiana.

After she was medically cleared by the hospital, Noble was taken to the Dubois County Security Center.

She is charged with Operating While Intoxicated, Driving While Suspended (with a prior conviction), Disorderly Conduct and Resisting Law Enforcement.

CRYSTAL (NNDC) – Dubois firefighters were called to a debris fire just south of Crystal Monday night.

DVFD says a passerby noticed the fire on property owned by Steve Stackhouse.  DVFD soon discovered that Mr. Stackhouse was cleaning up the property that was the site of a house fire last April.

The Stackhouses moved to French Lick in December of 2013.

There was no one at the property at the time DVFD was called which was at about 9:30 Monday evening.

Here is our story about the house fire back in April…
