Mark Schwinghamer - CopyMark Alan Schwinghamer, 63, of Holland, died Thursday (January 8) at the home of his sister, Brenda Dietrich, in Jasper. He was born in Huntingburg November 24, 1951, to Wilfred “Butch” and Elizabeth “Betty” (Mehringer) Schwinghamer. He married Kay Meyer November 25, 1977, at St. James Lutheran Church in Holland.

Mark graduated from Ferdinand High School and spent two years in the United States Army. He was employed at Best Chairs in Ferdinand for 23 years before resigning for health reasons. He was a member of Holland American Legion Post No. 343 and the N.R.A. He enjoyed shooting and collecting guns.

He is survived by his wife, Kay Schwinghamer; three daughters, Melissa and Lauren Schwinghamer, both of Holland, and Amanda Johnson and husband Adam, Carmel; his parents, Butch and Betty Schwinghamer, St. Henry; three sisters, Brenda Dietrich and Nancy Beier, both of Jasper, and Janet English and husband Brent, Franklin; one brother, David and wife Sue, St. Henry; and one granddaughter, Callie Johnson, Carmel.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Brian Schwinghamer, who died in infancy, and one nephew, his Godchild Jake Schwinghamer.

A Celebration of Life gathering is scheduled from 2-5 p.m. (EST) Saturday at the C.K. of A. Hall in St. Henry. Cremation has taken place and private disposition will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a covered dish in the form of an appetizer or dessert may be brought to the Celebration of Life gathering. Arrangements by Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg.
