Paul WigandPaul M. Wigand, 85, of Jasper, died Sunday (January 18) at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. He was born in Ireland January 20, 1929, Peter and Veronica (Mercker) Wigand. He married Rosa Lee Henke April 15, 1953, at Holy Family Catholic Church. She died February 22, 2001.

Paul retired from Kimball International after 36 years of service. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Holy Family Parish and Jasper Outdoor Recreation. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, wine making, horseback riding, and spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by one daughter, Carla Fleck and husband Rick, St. Anthony; three sons, Terry Wigand and wife Yvonne, James Wigand and wife Sandy, and Mark Wigand, all of Jasper; eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Simon Wigand and wife Sara, Jasper; and friend Eileen Atkins, Jasper.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by three brothers, Raymond, Albert, and Bernie Wigand, and six sisters, Anna Voegerl, Cecelia Rohleder, Leona Kluemper, Frances Gehlhausen, Henrietta Voegerl, and Marcella Voegerl.

Services at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Church with entombment following in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum. VFW Post No. 673 will conduct military gravesite rites. Friends may call from 2-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Family Church or to a favorite charity.
