Wilfred A. “Butch” Schwinghamer, 89, St. Henry

Wilfred SchwinghammerWilfred A. “Butch” Schwinghamer, 89, of St. Henry, died Monday (January 12) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Jasper December 5, 1925, to James and Doreathea (Heilers) Schwinghamer. He married Elizabeth “Betty” Mehringer October 28, 1950, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland.

Butch retired from Jasper Seating Company. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and served in northern France, Ardennes, and Rhineland in the European theater. He was a member of Ferdinand Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Schwinghamer; one son, David Schwinghamer and wife Sue, St. Henry; three daughters, Nancy Beier and Brenda Dietrich, both of Jasper, and Janet English and husband Brent, Franklin; two sisters, Viola Seidl, Huntingburg and Mary Stidahm, Everett, Washington; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Mark and infant, Brian Schwinghamer, two brothers, Al and John Schwinghamer, one sister, Nora Mitchell, and one grandson.
