Victor F. KIem, 82, Huntingburg

Victor KlemVictor F. Klem, 82, of Huntingburg, died Monday (January 12) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in St. Anthony July 25, 1932, to Joseph and Rose (Welp) Klem. He married Ruth H. Bieker July 29, 1950, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony. She died November 17, 2014.

Victor and his wife operated Windell’s Restaurant in Dale for a number of years. He also worked at the Huntingburg Brick Yard, Huntingburg Wood Products, Hoosier Desk, and Energy Supply. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, loved to garden and spend time with his family and dogs, and was a fan of Indiana Universdity basketball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.

He is survived by five sons, Victor Klem, Jr. and wife Ann, Mariah Hill, and Richard Klem and wife Sonia, Theodore Klem and wife Gayla, Douglas, and Lawrence Klem, all of Jasper; four daughters, Norma Padgett and husband Jeff, Otwell, Corma Knebel and husband Gerald, Barbara Eichmiller, and Debra Gehlhausen and husband Scott, all of Jasper; two brothers, Eugene and Alvin Klem, both of St. Anthony; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two infant daughters, Mary Elizabeth and Laura Rose Klem, one son-in-law, George Eichmiller, six brothers, Oscar, who died in infancy, Raymond, Walter, Clarence, Arthur, and Arnold Klem, and two sisters, Henrietta Ernst and Lucille Hopster.

Services at 10 a.m. (EST) Friday at St. Mary’s Church in Huntingburg with burial following in St. Anthony Cemetery. Father Ryan Hilderbrand will officiate at the services. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg. A parish rosary prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
