Erwin F. Seifert, 92, Jasper

Erwin SeifertErwin F. Seifert, 92, of Jasper, died Friday (January 9) at his home. He was born in Dale January 4, 1923, to Paul and Scholastica (Bredhold) Seifert. He married Florence Schroeder October 7, 1947, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper.

Erwin retired as a service manager from the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Jasper. He served as a Seaman First Class in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Church, a life member of V.F.W. Post No. 673, and American Legion Post No. 147.

He is survived by his wife, Florence E. Seifert; five daughters, Donna Humbert and husband Mike, Diane Manley and husband Kevin, Doris Erny and husband Mike, Darlene Mehringer and husband Alan, and Lois Rohleder and husband Doug; four sons, Dennis Seifert and wife Marie, Bob Seifert, Duane Seifert and wife Tara, and Dean Seifert and wife Mona, all of Jasper; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Virginia Boehm, Dorothy Boehm, and Cordella Seifert, two brothers Ralph and Bill Seifert, and one daughter-in-law, Mary Beth Seifert.

Services 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Church with entombment following in the Fairview Cemetery mausoleum. V.F.W. Post No. 673 will conduct military gravesite rites. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Church, Heart to Heart Hospice, or to a favorite charity.
