Verizon Reminds Its Customers That 10-Digit Dialing Begins February 7th

JASPER (NNDC) – verizon Wireless has let its customers know they must start using 10 digits to dial all phone calls, including those locally.

Verizon says starting February 7th, all customers with an 812 area code must dial the area code & number for all calls. This is because of the new 930 area-code overlay that is now in effect.

Earlier, the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission approved February 7th as the start date of the 930 overlay. The 930 area code was created because the 812 area code (all in southern Indiana) has run out of numbers for new phone customers.
