Hilda M. Daunhauer, 94, Ferdinand

Hilda DaunhauerHilda M. Daunhauer, 94, of Ferdinand, died Sunday (January 4) at Scenic Hills Care Center. She was born February 26, 1920, in Mariah Hill to William and Mary (Wassing) Heilers. She married Dorcy “Hap” Daunhauer in Ferdinand May 27, 1947. He died September 3, 1989.

Hilda and Hap owned  and operated the Oasis is Ferdinand for several years. She also worked at and retired from Aristokraft  and worked at the Kordes Retreat Center. She was a member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, St. Anne’s Sodality, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, traveling, and being with family and friends. She especially enjoyed travels to Alaska and Africa.

She is survived by two daugthters, Ann  Simons and husband Ernie, Sheridan, and Jeanne BenLamine and husband Hammauda, Newburgh; two sons, John Daunhauer and wife Cheryle, Holland, and Mike Daunhauer and wife Debbie, Port Orford, Oregon; six grandchildren, Hew Simons,  Mike Brinksneader,  Hassan BenLamine, Hannah Thyen, Laura Whitsitt, and Traci Mattingly; and 13 great-grand children.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, infant Ruth, one grandson, Ahmad BenLamine, three brothers, Robert, Albert, and Irvin Heilers, six sisters, Cecelia Heilers, infant, Helen Weyer, Emma Cummings, Eleanor Rupprecht, Verena Buren, and Lucille Bartley.

Services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Ferdinand Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 7 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.
