#8 Cats Lose At Evansville Central; Look To Rebound At Home Tonight (SCOREBOARD)

EVANSVILLE CENTRAL 76 JASPER 60

EVANSVILLE (NNDC) – Jasper’s five-game winning streak came to an end Friday night. The Wildcats, who are ranked #8 in Class 3A, lost to undefeated Evansville Central 76-60.

The Wildcats led 17-16 after the first period, but it was all Central after that as the host Bears outscored Jasper the rest of the way, including 25-9 in the fourth quarter.

The game, played at Evansville, was Jasper’s first since they won the inaugural Dubois County Classic holiday tournament late last month.

The Wildcats were led in scoring by Austin Ahrens with 19 points. Tyler Begle was the only other Jasper player in double figures; he had 11 points.

Jasper, now 5-2 overall, will be back in action tonight at home against Pike Central. The Chargers come to Jasper with a 5-4 overall record. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30pm.

Elsewhere tonight, the Forest Park’s Lady Rangers host Crawford County this evening. Tip-off is also at 7:30pm.

Coach Marty Niehaus’ team, which is now 8-6 overall, is coming an impressive 2nd-place showing at the Toby Yoho Classic earlier this week at Eastern Greene High School.
