Slick Road Conditions Factor In Local Accidents; Jasper Man Arrested For Theft (BLOTTER)

FRIDAY MORNING ROLLOVER ACCIDENT NEAR FERDINAND

FERDINAND (NNDC) – The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene of a Friday morning rollover accident at Indiana 264 and East 850 South northeast of Ferdiand.

The accident happened at about 9:50 this morning.  Slick driving conditions are reported in the area.  An ambulance was called to the scene.

ACCIDENT NEAR CELESTINE INJURES ONE

CELESTINE (NNDC) – A rural Schnellville man was injured when he lost control of the SUV he was driving along Indiana 164.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says 29-year old Paul Betz was driving westbound on 164 about a mile-and-a-half west of Celestine when he lost control of his vehicle at about 6:25 Friday morning.

DCSD says the SUV went off the left side of the highway before going down an embankment.  DCSD says the SUV struck a utility pole with its left side before coming to rest in a wooded area on the nose of the vehicle.

DCSD says Betz suffered a bump to his head and knee.  No information what was caused him to lost control of his vehicle.  “Black Ice” conditions were reported all across the county this morning.

JASPER MAN ARRESTED FOR THEFT

JASPER (NNDC) – A Jasper man was arrested New Year’s Day evening for attempting to steal with a new television set valued at nearly $1000 from Wal-Mart.

The man, 23-year old Nathan Schoultz, is charged with theft.

Jasper police say the store’s loss prevention team detained Schoultz until they arrived.  The incident happened at about 7pm Thursday.

Schoultz is charged with theft.

POLICE LOOKING FOR TRUCK THAT LEFT SCENE OF NEW YEAR’S DAY ACCIDENT

JASPER (NNDC) – Jasper police are looking for a vehicle they say left the scene of an accident in the Jasper CVS store on West Sixth Street New Year’s Day morning.

JPD says the vehicle struck a red pickup truck in the rear at about 11am and then left the parking lot.

Police say there was while paint where the red pickup was struck.
