“First Day Hike” Today At Patoka Lake

1014PATOKA LAKE (NNDC) – Patoka Lake and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of State Parks invite you to usher in the New Year with a “First Day Hike.”

The DNR says “First Day Hikes” are a healthy way to start 2015 and a chance to get outside, exercise, enjoy nature and connect with friends. “First Day Hikes” are being held at state parks all across Indiana this New Year’s Day.

There are a total of 32 First Day events throughout the state today, including a trail run/walk at Monroe Lake, and a First Day Horse Ride at Tippecanoe River State Park.

Those taking part in the “First Day Hike” at Patoka Lake are asked to meet at the nature center by 1 p.m. The day will start off with “Hike ‘N Hot Chocolate.” Park staff will join us for ¾-mile hike along the scenic Garden Rock Loop trail while sipping a cup of hot chocolate.

For more information, go online to dnr.IN.gov/dnr/parklake/2420.htm.

Patoka Lake is the second-largest reservoir in the U.S. state of Indiana and is spread across Dubois, Crawford, and Orange counties in southern Indiana.
