Baldwin To Face Felony Theft Charge In Dubois County

untitledJASPER (NNDC) – A felony charge has now been formally filed against a former Princeton man who police say was videotaped stealing a donation jar from a Jasper convenience store back on November 1st.

29-year old Eric Baldwin was arrested in South Dakota this past Friday on a unrelated felony warrant out of Warrick County for escape. His last known address was in North Dakota.

Jasper police say a tip from the public identified Baldwin as the man seen on the surveillance video taking the donation jar from the counter at Sternberg’s Citgo on south U. S. 231. The jar was placed on the counter to collect money for the funeral expenses of a two-month old baby girl from Huntingburg who died following complications from birth.

Jasper police announced Monday morning the theft charge now filed in Dubois County is a felony. Baldwin remains in the Traill County South Dakota awaiting extradiction to Warrick County.

Its not known yet if or when he’ll be brought to Dubois County for the theft charge.
