Charles Marsh Campbell, 88, Ferdinand

campbellCharles Marsh Campbell, 88, of Ferdinand, died Friday (November 21) at Brookside Village Senior Living Community in Jasper. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan, March 22, 1926, to Charles Carrol Campbell and Florence Ruff Campbell.

Charles was a member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church and the St. Joseph Sodality. He held a Master of Fine Arts degree and in 1968 began teaching English and poetry at St. Benedict College and Marian Heights Academy in Ferdinand. He had written poetry since the age of 12 and was the published author of several poetry books. Besides writing poetry, he liked reading the Bible, praying the rosary, and attending Mass daily.

He is survived by four nieces, Nancy Foster, Judy Wallisch, Barbara Campbell, and Susan Faling; and two nephews, Daniel Cambell and Steven Foster.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. Services at 1 p.m. (EST) Tuesday at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand with burial following in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand.
