Three Injured In Separate Traffic Accidents; JPD Looking For Hit And Run Vehicle

JASPER (NNDC) – Two people were injured in a two-vehicle traffic accident Thursday afternoon.

Jasper police say an SUV driven by 24-year old Erika Mehringer of Jasper, pulled out of the parking lot of the Anytime Fitness center on north Newton Street, and pulled into the path of a northbound car.

65-year old Patricia Sharp of Orleans was the driver of the northbound car. Sharp and a passenger in the car with her, 72-year old Mary Carey, were both transported to Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Mehringer was not hurt, but she was cited by police for Failure to Yield causing the accident that happened at about 4:30 Thursday afternoon.

JASPER (NNDC) – A St. Anthony teen was injured when the pickup truck she was driving crashed into a tree near 15th and Newton streets Friday evening.

17-year old Carrie Broadway told Jasper police an item became lodged under the brake pedal of her truck. She says as she tried to dislodge the item her foot pushed on the accelerator which caused the truck to speed up. She says she then drove the truck left of center to avoid traffic ahead before it went off the east side of Newton Street and struck a tree in a residential front lawn in the 1400 block.

Broadway was transported to Memorial Hospital after suffering a dislocated or fractured ankle.

JASPER (NNDC) – Jasper police say they are looking for a vehicle that struck a parked car on 12th Street along the north side of the Jasper Public Library.

The car that was hit was a red GEO Tracker. It was struck sometime between 10a and 11a Thursday morning.
