Hoyt H. King, 88, Birdseye

Hoyt KingHoyt H. King, 88, of Birdseye, died Monday (November 17) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born October 19, 1926, in Birdseye to Guffy and Opal (Eckert) King. He married Avis Nadine Brown March 1, 1951, in White Cloud, Indiana. She died July 13, 2010.

Hoyt was a retired mechanic. He worked for Olinger Construction Company and Rudolph Paving. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, American Legion, and was a lifetime member of the Birdseye Conservation Club.He served in the United States Army during World War II.

He is survived by two sons, Alan R. King and wife Kathy, Huntingburg, and Brian L. King and wife Donna, Birdseye; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Gene King, and one grandson, Zachary King.

Services at 10 a.m. (EST) Thursday at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial following in the Birdseye Cemetery. Rev. Albert Madden will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9-10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Zach King Memorial Fund. Condolences may be shared with the family online at www.nassandson.com.
