Wanted Huntingburg Man Arrested In Louisville For His Alleged Role In Murder More Than A year Ago (VIDEO)

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — (WLKY-TV/NNDC) A third suspect wanted in connection with the shooting death of a Louisville teenager a year ago July has finally been captured.

22-year old Leonel Hernandez of Huntingburg was arrested Tuesday without incident in Louisville and is now charged with murder and complicity to commit robbery.

He  is one of three suspects accused of gunning down 17-year-old Darius Miller Jr.

Miller was shot and killed in the parking lot of a Walgreens at 35th Street and West Broadway  in Louisville back in July of 2013.

Kyle Chambers and Destiny Trusty were arrested soon after in Huntingburg.  Both are charged with murder, robbery, and tampering with evidence.

Meanwhile, Huntingburg assistant police chief Ronnie Bowman tells NewsNow Dubois County they never let up in the search for Hernandez…

Bowman says almost always, a tip from the public, in any crime, generally leads to something positive for police and an investigation…

WLKY-TV in Louisville is reporting that family members of Miller’s are relieved that all of those allegedly responsible have been caught.

“I think it’s great for real. They should have never took his life anyway. That’s my heart, that’s my blood, man, and I love him to death. It could have gone a totally different way,” said Miller’s cousin, Judon Cardell.

“I’m just hoping that they get what they deserve. You know, it goes on from there, life goes on. We going to keep on pushing on.”

WLKY is also reporting that at the time of his death, Miller was preparing for his senior year at Waggener High School.

He was also the father to a newborn baby.

All three suspects in his slaying are scheduled to be in court next week.

Hernandez is currently being held on a $500,000 cash bond.
