Robert Lee Mohr, 79, Ferdinand

Robert MohrRobert Lee Mohr, 79, of Ferdinand, died Wednesday (November 5) at his home. He was born in Ferdinand September 4, 1935, to John Sr. and Augusta (Oser) Mohr. He married Barbara Meyer September 3, 1962, at Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Mariah Hill.

Robert was a member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church and its St. Joseph’s Sodality, the Mariah Hill Young Men’s Institute Council 582, Ferdinand Historical Society, Ferdinand Community Center and Tri-County YMCA, and was a charter member of the Ferdinand Jaycees. He graduated from Ferdinand High School in 1955, served in the National Guard, and was employed at Schreiner and Verkamp IGA for 42 years. He retired from Jasper Cabinet. He was an avid fan of New York Yankees baseball and enjoyed Indiana University basketball and Indianapolis Colts football.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Mohr; one son, Donnie Mohr and wife Kim, Ferdinand; one daughter, Gina Hides and husband Jay, Louisville; five brothers, Dick Mohr and wife Elaine, Mariah Hill, Ron Mohr and wife Doris, John Mohr Jr. and wife Marge, Paul Mohr and wife Becky, and Ed Oser and wife Marty, all of Ferdinand; three sisters, Dolly Harris and husband Jim, Huntingburg , and Vita Voegerl and husband Ken and Frances “Bootsie” Brinkman and husband Jerome, all of Ferdinand; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Mohr.

Services at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Ferdinand Church with burial following in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday and 7-8:30 a.m. Saturday at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Condolences may be shared at
