Meanwhile, the Dallas Children’s Theater’s production of The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley, is based on the book Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown. This play was written by Timothy Allen McDonald, with lyrics by McDonald and Jonathan K. Waller. Music is by David Weinstein, Stephen Gabriel, Waller and McDonald.

Stanley Lamchop is just like everyone else. That’s the problem. For Stanley, life is TOO normal. Determined to do something amazing, something no one’s ever seen before, he makes a wish on a falling star. That night, the bulletin board on the wall above Stanley’s bed comes loose and falls – right on top of him. The next morning, Stanley Lambchop wakes up flat. Not just a little flat…really, really flat! Thus begins his new life and unexpected quest to see the world, which comes surprisingly easily when you can travel through the mail as a letter! Along the way, Stanley thwarts a robbery at the Louvre Museum in Paris and surfs off the coast of Hawaii. He’s stamped, posted and cancelled from Hollywood to France to Honolulu and beyond. Once Stanley realizes that great adventures aren’t as special without his family around to share in the joy and excitement, he wishes to become a three-dimensional boy once again and learns that heroes come in all shapes and sizes.

Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, Jeff Brown’s beloved children’s book, Flat Stanley, was written in 1964 and has become a literary and pop cultural phenomenon. The musical stage adaptation has followed in its footsteps receiving national critical acclaim. “What I love about the show are all the teachable moments that don’t feel like lessons,” says DCT’s guest director Michael Serrecchia. “It’s a fun, Broadway-style musical comedy about the value of being different and the importance of family.”

The cast will include: Johnny Lee (Stanley Lambchop), Justin Duncan (Arthur Lambchop), James Chandler (Mr. Lambchop), Dominique Brinkley (Mrs. Cartero), Caroline Dubberly (Mrs. Lambchop), with additional help from Laura Choate, John Moss II, Robert Molina, and Jordana Abrenica.

The performance is suitable for all ages. There will only be one performance on Saturday, November 15th at 3:30 p.m. Order your tickets now by calling the Jasper Arts Center right away at (812) 482-3070. Prices are $15 for adults and seniors and $8 for students and children.
