Wilfred Hentrup, 91, Jasper

W‎ilfred HentrupWilfred Hentrup, 91, of Jasper, died Sunday (September 28) at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. He was born in Dubois July 1, 1923, to William and Florence (Hooten) Hentrup. He married Geraldine Strotman October 20, 1949, in St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois, Indiana.

Wilfred was a World War I army veteran, serving in the European theatre. He retired from the Jasper Corporation, a division of Kimball International. He was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post No. 673 in Jasper, in which he served as a member of the honor guard for many years. He was an avid Indiana Pacer fan.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Hentrup; one daughter, Beth Leistner and husband Bill, Dubois; one son, Dale Hentrup and wife Linda, Dubois; two grandchildren, Kevin Leistner and Audrey Kluesner; one brother, David Hentrup, Jasper; and five sisters, Mary Hawley, Kathy Knies and husband Jerry and Patti Brosmer and husband Jim, all of Jasper, Alice Childers and husband Millard, Science Hill, Kentucky, and Doris Gehlhausen, Port St. Lucie, Florida.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Leroy, Donald, and Louis Hentrup, and two sisters, Cyrilla Spivey and Marcella Roberts.

Services at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois with burial following in the church cemetery. V.F.W. Post No. 673 will conduct military grave side rites.
