JASPER (NNDC) – The Indiana Historical Society has brought the state’s “Bi-Centennial” Train to the Jasper Depot as part of the IHS’ celebration of the state’s 200th birthday.

The Indiana Bicentennial Train is free and open to the public, making stops throughout the state in a four-year celebration of its 200th birthday.  It is in Jasper today through Saturday.

It includes…

-The Next Indiana, the onboard bicentennial exhibition, explores the state’s past through the lenses of transportation, land use, talent and community.

-Historic interpreter Kevin Stonerock performing a specially created character from 1916.

-An area to experience the mission and programs of the Indiana Historical Society.

-A tent with fun, educational activities, as well as an opportunity to connect with your own community’s history.

-A pop-up market with Indiana and bicentennial-related items from the Indiana Historical Society

-The Indiana Bicentennial Train is presented by the Indiana Historical Society and is sponsored by the Indiana Rail Road Company and Norfolk Southern with support from Kroger in partnership with the Indiana Bicentennial Commission and Indiana Humanities.
