Reward Offered Following Third Suspicious Fire In Northside Neighborhood

SHED 1JASPER РThe Jasper Police Department and the local group Community Strike Force Against Crime are now offering a $1000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for an early Saturday morning believed to be an act of arson.

Jasper police say the fire appears to have been intentionally set as the origin was under a new equipment shed at the home of Lou Beckman in the 4300 block of Baden Strasse. The fire was reported to local 911 at 1:27 Saturday morning.

Jasper fire chief Kenny Hochgesang tells NewsNow Dubois County the shed was delivered to the Beckman home just this past Friday. Hochgesang also says the fire is the third suspicious fire in the far northside neighborhood in the last three years plus…

sHED 2Hochgesang says the three fires in the neighborhood were all within 100 yards of each other.

Hochgesang says the shed that was set on fire Saturday morning did not have any power running to it. It was filled with Christmas decorations and household items.

Hochgesang says there was no fire damage inside the shed. He says the floor did give way under the weight of the containers with the decorations and household items.

Hochgesang says the shed was valued at $1,700; about $1,000 for the shed’s contents.
