Grant Welp Named HCAC Offensive Player of the Week

Franklin, Ind. – Throwing five touchdown passes and completing passes for 321 yards have earned Franklin College senior quarterback Grant Welp (Ferdinand, Ind./Forest Park) the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference’s (HCAC) Offensive Player of the Week honor for the third week of the college gridiron season.

Welp (#15) led the Grizzlies to a 62-14 victory at Anderson University last Saturday in the team’s league opener. He guided the offense to score touchdowns in seven of the eight drives during a 48-point first half performance.

Three of Welp’s five touchdowns were pass plays of 30 or more yards.

Franklin stands 1-2 on the season and is playing its HCAC home opener on Saturday, September 27 against Bluffton University. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. at Faught Stadium.
