Edward J. Striegel, 80, Jasper

Edwad StreigelEdward J. Striegel, 80, of Jasper, died Sunday (September 21) at the Providence Home Health Care Center in Jasper. He was born in Celestine August 12, 1934, to Oscar and Anna (Knies) Striegel.

Edward retired from Krodel Wholesale in Jasper. He served two tours in the U.S. Navy, was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, American Legion Post No. 147, and the Jasper Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and reading.

He is survived by three sisters, Betty Burger and Lorraine Buechlein, Jasper, and Glorida Williams and husband Pat, Ooltewah, Tennessee; two brothers, Victor Striegel, Jasper, and Kenneth Striegel, Medora, Indiana; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Striegel, and two sisters, Lucille Wigand and Mary “Mae” Hasenour.
Services at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper with entombment to follow in Fairview cemetery mausoleum. American Legion Post No. 147 will conduct military gravesite rites. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. Membes of Precious Blood Church will pray a rosary at 4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Precious Blood Church or to a favorite charity.
