City-Wide Hydrant Flushing To Begin This Afternoon

th (2)JASPER – Water quality level coming form the Patoka River intake at the Jasper water treatment plant have improved to the point, the city is ready to flush out the city’s “dirty” water with “clean” water.

The flushing is needed to clear out impurities and sediment that got into the city’s water system over the last 48 hours that triggered a system-wide “boil order.”

Hydrants will be flushed and the city’s water towers drained beginning at about 2:30pm.

The “dirty” water will be channeled back into the Patoka downstream from the intake.

Once the system is “flushed,” two days of required state testing will need to be done before the boil order can be terminated.
