City Providing Water During Current Boil Order; Schools Addressing Issue

th (1)The City of Jasper is now offering water for city water utility customers in both Jasper and Ireland. The offer is being made as a result of the “boil order” now in effect (click here for original story).

City officials ask that water customers wanting to take advantage of this offer to bring containers to the intersection of Crossroads and 2nd Avenue in front of the Port of Jasper and the Easttown Bowling Center.

The water being given out is from the Dubois Water Utility which is NOT affected by the current boil order.

The Jasper Water Department is limiting the amount of water to five gallons for each water utility customer. Special consideration will be given to larger amounts of water, if needed. If customers need more than five gallons, they are asked to go to the city’s water filtration plant at 825 East Second Avenue (Indiana 164) to obtain a voucher for the additional amount.

If anyone has any questions, please call 812-482-5252.

Meanwhile, Jasper schools have turned off all water fountains in all school buildings in the district. Each school is offering students bottled and filtered water in their classrooms until the boil order is lifted. The school district called parents earlier this morning to advise them that children could also bring their own water battles to school today.
