Jasper Sweeps Tri-County Invitational; JHS Freshman Scores Hole-In-One

Jasper wins the annual Tri-County Invitational at Southridge with an overall team score of 29 as five Wildcats finish in the top 10 lead by sophomore standout Cale Killian who ran a new course and meet record time of 16 minutes 33 seconds.

Forest Park’s Trey Dooley was second; Luke Kersteins of Northeast Dubois was third and Southridge’s Chase Bland ran fourth. Bland did set a new school record time of 17 minutes 25 seconds.

Northeast Dubois finished second overall in the team standings (47); Forest Park was third (105) and Southridge finished sixth (127) in the eight-team meet.

For the ladies, Jasper once again takes the team title with 22 points. Southridge was second with 55; Northeast Dubois third with (72) and Forest Park finished fourth with a team score of 95.

Jasper junior Hannah Welsh finished first overall individually with a new meet and course record time of 19 minutes 29 seconds. The Wildcats Tara Cassidy was second; Southridge’s Lauren Meyer was third. Jasper had five runners place in the top 10 spots.


Northeast Dubois spikes Forest Park in three games, 25-23, 25-17, 25-19.

Kendra Jacob led the Lady Jeeps with 13 kills; Carly Terwiske with 33 assists. Jenna Stemle recorded 29 digs.

Lydia Lange led the Lady Rangers with nine kills; Gabby Hoffman with 16 assists. Madi Giesler had 18 digs in the match played at Buechler Arena in Ferdinand.

At Vincennes, Jasper wins in a Big 8 Conference match with the Lady Alices in three games, 25-16, 25-22, 25-12.

Elisabeth Ahlbrand with 14 kills for Jasper; Michala Flamion added 13. Newly-named AAU Academic All-American Teyah Leinenbach had 40 assists for the Lady Wildcats. Rachel Sternberg led Jasper with 25 digs.

At Evansville, Southridge loses to Central in four games, 20-25, 24-26, 25-20, 20-25.

Taylor Uppencamp with nine kills to lead Southridge; Grace Kappner had 16 assists and Maddie Lubbehusen led the Lady Raiders with 34 digs.


At Jasper, the Wildcats roll over Vincennes Lincoln, 7-2. Eirik Steine scores two goals for the Wildcats. Christopher Menjivar, Cayden Williams, Mitchell Flynn, Fernando Garcia, and Noah Farmer each added a goal for Jasper.

At Washington, Forest Park loses 1-0 to the host Hatchets. A second half Hatchets header the only score in the game.

At Dubois, the Jeeps lose to 2-0 to South Spencer.


Jasper wins at Mt. Vernon in a shootout. Jasper wins the shootout 3-2 with goals from Sara Carpenter, Jordan Mehringer, and Samantha Kabrick. Jasper Goalkeeper Lauren Schnell blocked 3 of 5 penalty kicks by Mt. Vernon to secure the win.

Jasper hosts Northeast Dubois Thursday.


Northeast Dubois rolls to another 5-0 win. This time at home over Linton. The Jeeps lose only one game in the match as they improve to 9-0 for the 2014 season.

#2 doubles – Kaden Quinn/Parker Zehr (ND) defeated Dane Kanen/Brayden Allen (L) 6-0, 6-0.


Forest Park defeats host Southridge 4-1.

#2 doubles – Hochgesang/Nord (FP) defeated Taylor/Recker (SR) 6-4, 6-1.


Jasper outshoots Bedford-North Lawrence 174-186. Jasper freshman Maddie Wagner scored a hole in one in the match played on the back nine at Buffalo Trace Golf Club. Maddie’s hole-in-one came at #17 on her way to a co-medalist score of 42 which she shared with teammate Annika Harmon. Catherine Bell careded a 46, Sarah Ackerman a 47 and Mady Horney shot a 51.
