Plane “Laser-Spotted” Near Huntingburg Airport

StoryOur media partner WTVW/WEHT in Evansville is reporting an investigation is underway after reports of “laser-spotting” in southwest Indiana.

Pike County central dispatch is reporting it received a call from Indianapolis Air Traffic Control Tuesday night at about 10:15pm Eastern time.

Indianapolis controllers say a plane was flying about 20 miles northwest of the Huntingburg Airport when when the plane’s pilot reported a greenish laser was following it.

Controllers say “laser-spotting” on aircraft, of course, is a federal offense.

We’re told Petersburg Police have taken over the investigation searching for those responsible.
