JASPER MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG-RELATED CHARGES

The Dubois County Sheriffs Department and officers from the Jasper City Police Department went to an apartment at 1720 Leopold Street in Jasper Friday night to attempt to serve a Civil Warrant from Dubois County Circuit Court for unpaid child support.

Officers contacted their suspect, 31 year old Jonathan Huff and took him into custody at about 10pm Friday.

During a search of his person officers located prescription medication (Clonazepam, a schedule IV controlled substance) and drug paraphernalia.

Huff was booked on the arrest warrant, charges of Possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, a Class A misdemeanor, and Possession of Paraphernalia with a prior conviction, a Level 6 felony. He’s also charged with Contempt of Court in connection with the warrant for unpaid child support.

LOCAL MAN ARRESTED FOR O.W.I. FOLLOWING ACCIDENT; DCSD SAYS CHILD WAS WITH HIM

DCSD arrested 37-year old Steven Stetter of Huntingburg Saturday night for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated. DCSD says a car driven by Stetter was traveling southbound on Old Huntingburg Road just before 8pm Saturday when the vehilce went partially off the road to the right, Stetter then lost control, went back off the road to the right into a large ditch about a mile north of Huntingburg. DCSD says Stetter’s vehicle was a total loss.

Officers conducted an investigation for Operating While Intoxicated and found that Stetter was impaired. He was taken for a breath test with a result of .095% Stetter was booked for charges of Operating while intoxicated as a level 6 Felony due to him having a 13 year old passenger in the vehicle.

JASPER MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG-RELATED CHARGES; RESISTING POLICE

Late Saturday night, a deputy with the Dubois County Sheriff Department was on patrol when he noticed a male subject staggering while trying to walk. The DCSD deputy says the man nearly walked out in front of the police vehicle while patrolling on Newton Street in Jasper.

DCSD says officers made contact with 27-year old Chad Lechner of Jasper near 5th and Clay Street shortly before 11pm. DCSD says Lechner was found to be intoxicated and deputies were concerned for his safety.

After further investigation a small amount of suspected marijuana and paraphernalia was located. It was then Lechner attempted to flee from officers. He was pursued for about 250 feet on foot and then taken into custody.

He was booked on charges of Possession of Marijuana – Class A misdemeanor due to prior conviction, Possession of Paraphernalia- Class D Felony due to prior conviction, and resisting law enforcement – Class A misdemeanor.

VIRGINIA WOMAN ARRESTED FOR O.W.I.

A Virginia woman was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle after DCSD deputies were dispatched to Indiana 164 at Trainer Lane on a report of a vehicle in a ditch that was trying to leave the scene.

DCSD says the station wagaon did get out of the ditch and then went South on Trainer Lane. Deputies located the suspect on Trainer Lane a short time later. The driver was identified as 30-year old Hope Heinz of Chester, Virginia.

DCSD says Heinz was found to be very intoxicated and was taken to Memorial Hospital where she tested .26%

She was booked into the Dubois County Security Center on a charge of Operating While Intoxicated as a Level 6 Felony due to a prior conviction for O.W.I, within the last 5 years. According to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department, Heinz was arrested for O.W.I. and for leaving the scene of a property damage accident back on November 16, 2013. Her address then was listed as Jasper.

WORK RELEASE DETAINEE ARRESTED ON DRUG-RELATED CHARGES

Dubois County Sheriff’s Department deputies were called next door to the Dubois County Community Corrections Center on Brucke Strasse last Sunday night.

DCSD says 21 year old Michael Orebaugh, who was checking back in to the local work release center, was found in Possession of Synthetic Marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Orebaugh is charged with Possession of Synthetic Drugs – an A misdemeanor, and Possession of Paraphernalia – an A misdemeanor, and for violating the rules and regulations of Work Release.
