Huntingburg Man Injured In Overnight Scooter Accident

65 year old Carlos Rodriguez of Huntingburg was seriously injured when he crashed while riding his scooter along U. S. 231 south of Jasper early Saturday morning.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department says Rodriguez was operating the scooter southbound on the shoulder of the highway about a mile south of Jasper when it struck a guardrail.

DCSD says after striking the guardrail Rodriguez was thrown from the scotter and landed in the roadway. He suffered a head injury and possible chest and arm injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital for treatment and later transferred to St. Mary’s hospital in Evansville.

Rodriguez was not wearing a helmet. Drugs and/or alcohol are not suspected to be a factor and Rodriguez.

The scooter was a total loss.
