Mary Jo Fisher, 83, Dubois

Mary Jo FisherMary Jo Fisher, 83, of Dubois, died Thursday (September 4) at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. She was born in Jasper September 4, 1931, to Bernard and Mary (Johnson) Seifert. She married William G. Fisher April 22, 1950, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper. He died September 7, 2010.

Mary Jo retired from Southeast Purdue Farms, where she worked as a lab technician for over 20 years. She also worked as a waitress at Mathias Cafe in Dubois and Heichelbech’s Restaurant in Jasper. She was a member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois, where she volunteered much of her time. She also was a volunteer for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and was a caregiver for the homebound. She enjoyed flower gardening and traveling,

Surviving are two daughters, Cindy Terwiske and husband Dave, Haysville, and Paula Wood and husband Phil, O’Fallon, Illinois; two sons, Rick Fisher, Phoenix, Arizona, and Gary Fisher and wife Missy, Dawson Springs, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Ida Mae Welp and husband Herb, and Betty Judy and husband John, all of Jasper, and Barbara Seifert and Jeanette Carter, both of Florida; two brothers, John Seifert, Terre Haute, and Jim Seifert and wife Margaret, Jasper.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Kieffner, Helen Rose Herr, and Geri Pieper, and one brother; Charles Seifert.

Services at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Raphael’s Church with burial at a later date in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Raphael’s Church or to Heart to Heart Hospice in Jasper. Online condolences may be made at
