HUNTINGBURG – The Association of Latin Americans in Southern Indiana (A.L.A.S.I.) is hosting the second annual Latino Festival, formerly named Hispanic Cultural Festival, in Huntingburg.  The festival will take place on Friday, September 5 and Saturday, September 6 from 4:00 – 10:00 p.m. on Market Street, located behind Old Town Hall on 309 N. Geiger Street.

The opening ceremony will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Latino Festival will include a soccer tournament, live music and food booths. It is being funded in part through the Dubois County Community Foundation’s ArtWorks grant, as well as local donations.

“The Community Foundation is pleased to continue its support of the Latino Festival and A.L.A.S.I.,” says Dubois County Community Foundation Chief Executive Officer, Brad Ward.  “The festival is a beautiful interpretation of diverse cultures and backgrounds that come together to call Dubois County home. We look forward to another exciting year of entertainment, food and experiences for the whole family.”

“Last year, the festival was very successful in providing a great opportunity to celebrate the different cultures within the Latino community,” says Huntingburg Mayor Denny Spinner. “As a city we will continue to support A.L.A.S.I.’s efforts in integrating with the community, and I invite all citizens to join in this celebration.”

“We are excited for the Latino Festival again this year,” says A.L.A.S.I President Jose Gil. We have a good number of vendors participating and the local school system is involved, as well. We hope to have a lot of people attend.”
