Jasper; Southridge Win In Volleyball; Sports Scoreboard For Thursday

The Jasper High School volleyball team get revenge from last year’s disappointing season opening loss at Princeton by downing the Lady Tigers in three games in last night’s 2014 opener at Jasper. The game scores were 25-13, 25-14 and 25-16.

Elisabeth Ahlbrand with 14 kills to lead Jasper… Reagan Hochmeister added 10.

Rachel Sternberg led Jasper with 20 digs. Teyah Leinenbach had 33 assists for the Lady Wildcats.

At Huntingburg, Southridge beat Tell City in three games, 25-15, 25-18, 25-21. The Lady Raiders now 1-1 for the new season.

Kathryn Brewer had 7 aces… Maddie Lubbehusen and Kayla Voegerl had 5 each.  Voegerl also had 18 kills, Sydney Altmeyer with 15 kills to go with her 8 blocks.

Grace Kappner had 26 assists and Kathryn Brewer had 21 for Southridge.  Maddie Lubbehusen had 40 digs for the Lady Raiders and Voegerl had 25.

Northeast Dubois did not lose a set Thursday in downing Paoli 5-0 at Paoli.

#1 Singles – Patrick Betz (ND) defeated Jeff Kenney (P) 6-0, 6-3.

#2 Singles – Jaxon Denu (ND) defeated Kyle Street (P) 6-2, 6-0.

#3 Singles – Case Eisenhut (ND) defeated Kyle Marshall (P) 6-0, 6-1.

#1 Doubles – Cayden Knies/Tristan Linne (ND) defeated Trey Yother/Mason Deaton (P) 6-0, 6-0

#2 Doubles – Kaden Quinn/Parker Zehr (ND) defeated Adam Engleking/Austin Longest (P) 6-0, 6-2

Jeeps improve to 3-0 for the season with the win.

Meanwhile, Jasper shuts down Big 8 foe Princeton, 5-0 at Jasper.

Floyd Central 5 Forest Park 0

The Forest Park boys soccer team traveled to Floyd Central to open up their 2014 campaign.

The Rangers ran into a very experienced Highlander squad and showed their own inexperience in a 5-0 loss.

After losing 8 starters from last year’s Regional Championship team, the Rangers fielded a squad that started 4 sophomores and 1 freshman.

They will look to improve as they host New Albany in their home opener on Monday.

Heritage Hills 8 Northeast Dubois 1

The Jeeps were outmatched on Thursday evening to visiting Heritage Hills.

Heritage Hills came out strong from the start, playing in an attacking based formation that the Jeeps’ defense scrambled to defend. Heritage Hills shut out Northeast Dubois 2 – 0 in the first half.

22 minuntes into the second half, Sophomore Aubrey Marks received a through ball from teammate Kelly Vonderheide.

Marks out ran a Patriot defender and sailed the shot past senior keeper Maddie Crews.

The Jeeps defense struggled to keep up with the ever changing offensive-based formation and gave up 6 goals in the second half.



At Huntingburg Country Club, Thursday, Southridge outshoots PAC foe Crawford County, 230-245.

Crawford County – Cook 48 (Medalist), Johnson 59, Pittman 64, Knight 74
