Public Tour Of Patoka Lake Dam And Tower Being Offered

A public tour of the Patoka Lake Dam and dam tower will take place August 30th.   The tour will offer a behind-the-scenes look at reservoir management and flood control.

The tour will be hosted by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Patoka Lake Visitors Center.  It starts at 10 a.m. EDT.

Those going on the tour are being asked to meet at 9:30 a.m. at the visitors center so a car caravan to the dam will be organized.  The public and also join the tour at the dam just off Indiana 545.

Guides will take visitors inside the dam tower and explain the operations and history of the dam and Patoka Lake.

This will be the final tower tour of the summer.

Entrance to the Newton-Stewart State Recreation Area, site of the visitors center, costs $5 per-in-state vehicle and $7 per out-of-state vehicle. Newton-Stewart SRA is north of Wickliffe, off S.R. 164.
