Huntingburg Will Know Today If “Stellar Community!”

Stellar_Communities_Logo_2_27_12INDIANAPOLIS – Lieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann will announce today, the two new Indiana Stellar Communities for 2014. The announcement will take place at 10 oclock this morning at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. The announcement is part of the Indiana State Fair’s Community Development Day celebrations.

Six finalists, including the city of Huningburg received funds from the state to prepare what was called an in-depth Strategic Investment Plan followed by site visits conducted by the state selection team.

The other five finalist communities are the City of Decatur, City of Marion, City of Mount Vernon, Town of Nashville and City of Wabash.

Launched in 2011, Stellar Communities pools funding sources to assist communities in achieving long-term community development projects.

The two winning communities will be eligible for more than $10 million in state grants and tax incentives to help fund those projects.
